Congradulations to both Rinzin Lhazom and Tsetan Namgyal. Rinzin (from Class 7&8) received the 2008 Best Girl Award and Tsetan (from Class 6) received the 2008 Best Boy Award.
Both were presented certificates at the 19th Anniversary of the Conferment of the Noble Peace Prize to H.H. the 14th Dalai Lama celebration on December 6, 2008

Sonam, a junior at Newton High school, moved to the US from Nepal 2 years ago. Since moving here, she has an active role in the Tibetan Community School as the Student Captain and is interested in learning more about Tibetan History. Her favorite part about the Tibetan School is how the Tibetan culture is is being preserved and will hopefully spread to other countries.
Besides reading and basketball, Sonam also enjoys cooking Tibetan food. Her future goal is to become a nurse so that she can help those in need.

Achievement Awards 2008
Each year, the Tibetan Community School recognizes outstanding performance by students, and presents them with a Certificate of Achievement during the annual Nobel Peace Prize Celebration held by the Tibetan Community of NY & NJ. This year, awards went to:

Art Contest 2008
The Tibetan Community School hosted an art contest, open to all students of the Tibetan Community School. The winners were awarded cash prizes and were on display at the Birthday Celebration for HH the Dalai Lama on July 5, 2008.
The theme of the contest was "What It Means To Be Tibetan". Artwork submitted ranged on diverse aspects of Tibetan culture such as religion, history, etc.
